come on you lot. this deserves it's own thread. it's amazing. was listening to it on Sunday night and my jaw dropped at every turn. I'm so glad it's mixed too - with the rave horns between tracks!

brief description of it how it sounds here- i know some of you have heard it though...

I've only heard a couple of clips, but that was enough to get me pretty excited. Glad it's living up to its promise.

fact music
i hear there's going to be a scintillating lp review on the fact website.. so i might hold fire til then :p

I was probably in a sand pit or something. I like the first tune on the boomkat samples and love other Zomby tunes, some of his unreleased stuff on Blackdown's rinse mixes sound great but i'm skeptical of all this rave revival stuff going about. The likes of Crookers with their big whompy basslines can sound good for a bounce about on a night out but ultimately the tunes are completely disposable.. just something that sounds like rave in a more trendy contemporary formula. Speaking of 92 a friend linked me to this blog http://blog2theoldskool.blogspot.com/ I was loving the Hyper-on experience 1992 demo earlier.

i was here

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TJEI8FYY

listening to that.

it's not actually live at the club it's a mixtape by a dude called tom middleton who was one of the local djs at the club i went to, for that night.
some good shit there, mix of uk stuff, belgian stuff and early intelligent techno style bits at wrong speeds etc.

i was 16-17 but you could get into clubs no probs.

Did Zomby do that track that's got the sounds from that old game Joust really REALLY loud in the mix? On Hyperdub?

Always thought Crookers sounded more eurotrance from the stuff I've heard (albeit in a bit of a pisstakey way).

Quite liked the Duke Dumont mix off this http://www.juno.co.uk/products/304396-01.htm, seemed to recapture some of the old skool vibe.

Also this http://www.juno.co.uk/products/304396-01.htm

Think a fair bit of the fidget stuff is incorporating ravey vibes to varying degrees of success, managed to chuck 2 Bad Mice's Hold it Down into a house set to a good reception.

Oh and Fake Blood - Mars - real hands in the air breakdown before the doppler bass kicks in. Think a lot of the feel of the old skool was the general what the fuckness of it rather than particular elements, Trip to the Moon being a particular case in point - doubt anyone would throw those elements into a tune nowadays (well maybe Shitmat, but even he seems to be getting a bit conventional lately)

He's mates with Jesse Rose I think, seeing as he's just had a release on Dubsided, and the Made to Play remix I mentioned. Worth getting the Hoy tune and the b-side Borstal is pretty funny too. Well thought out stupidity I think :D

Trip to the Moon is the best hardcore tune but mainstream success Howlett was the best producer (by far).

along with close your eyes and part 1 & 2 of trip to the moon. the use of the sampler is next level on these tracks.

i dunno about this zomby thing though, i dont really see much point in releasing it but whatever i guess. will give it a listen once its out. there's this thing coming out real soon as well that kinda has a funky rhythm to it:

Yeah, mentioned that one up thread I think. Try this one too

Hoy and Feltham (the Borstal Beat) are the ones. He's got quite a varied style already with not that many releases under his belt from what I gather. If you find his myspace there's a pretty good mix that was posted there he did, pretty good dj too

did you catch that tiger style record on 8 ball earlier this year, or that mad record that i think ws switch and herve, earlier this year too, on loungin, just made up of loads of rave stabs, called riddim come 4ward? that was a killer.

Don't think I got the Herve one, but I do love that sort of sound. I'm quite enthusiastic about a lot of that scene, seems to be kind of cohesive groove wise but a lot of diferent styles coming through. It's cool cause it's party music but really well put together, doesn't take itself too seriously but isn't disposable either. Great antidote to dubstep parties it has to be said :D

yes this is true, good to get the energy levels up, plus it's got plenty of hip hop / early house energy in it too as well as rave bits. It's good to hear a hip hop accapella over tough housey beats.
