Delinquent Elephants

One of my friends was telling me about this story.

Apparently the elephants witnessed their mothers being killed, were tethered to them to prevent them running away and then were tranquilised and moved to the game park where they grew up without any older elephants. Once they did so they began viciously killing rhinos in a completely unprecedented manner. Seems that this was related to their childhood trauma and the lack of a family or a steadying hand so they brought in some older and wiser elephants who obviously gave them a bollocking and stopped the killing straight away.

Let's Talk About Ceps

Seriously though, who the fuck thought this:

would be a good idea? Especially given how well-known it is that elephants are intelligent, have long memories and complex social structures...they even display behaviour (veneration of their dead) that seems to be an important precursor to religion.
