View Full Version : Mixing and recording tips

I found this site recently - well worth a read for anyone who is struggling to get their home mixing and/or home recording up to scratch. All very easy to follow, and with great advice on all sorts of issues.

So I thought I'd set up this thread if anyone has any tips to share to make home recordings sound that little bit better....

As I'm a neophyte at this kind of thing, I don't have any tips of my own, but some of the ones I found interesting on the aforementioned site:

The 'cut narrow, boost wide' dictum.
You can make a pop filter from a sock and gaffer tape.

thanks babs.

it's amazing how bad things can get. some of the tracks i bought from ukfunky were entirely fucked, one channel much quieter than the other, the levels all maxed out and distorted... they were nice enough to give me credit though.
