The Top 10 UK albums this week has Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, U2, Killers, Athlete and Keane in the list.
I know we all disagree on the abilities of these bands (and some of them have more guitars than others)
but the list almost exactly a year ago contained Katie Melua, Norah Jones, Jamie Cullem, Lionel Richie, Harry Connick Jr, Engelbert Humperdinck and Will Young.
I see this as positive progress - and a possible swing of public taste.
Simon Fuller is obviously on the trail - he and his chums are investing 20 Million to
give to 20 different Indie acts http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/news/story/0,11711,1424116,00.html.
One cool million to each.
Ambivalence by definition.
Indie Idol is on - BIG time.
