i cant be bothered with the transcoding to QT or whatever and just rip the image of the dvd onto the hardDrive. space is cheap....
I do this to all my kids dvd so the kids(4yrs) just have to click to view what they want rather than fuck up the dvd. (I have lots of non-disney animation)
On Windows I use:
-'deamon' (a virtual cd/dvd-rom emulator) to mount the image as a DVD (OSX does this natively) -
http://www.daemon-tools.cc
-DVD dycrypter to extract DVD and remove protection
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software2.htm
-vlc is a good dvd player on all platforms if you dont want to use whatever you have....
-I also write a little script in deamon and have bought a little shareware prog that changes the image of each scriptfile (to a picture of a character in the DVD) - so the kids can recognise the film.
www.doom9.org is the place to go for your .nfo on windows/linux boxes.
I cant remember whats out there for osx but its pretty much the same situation: do a search in google and you get 100+ crap pay loads of money software but the opensource community has good solid 'free' non-comersial solutions - just need to know where to look.....
