Oum Kalsoum

there are no accidents
i was just watching that famous concert from 1964 where Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was attending or whatever... not much to say about her discography though as i've yet to work my way through a significant portion of it.

There's a well-written although not that heavy or theoretically chewy academic book on her: 'The Voice of Egypt' by Virginia Danielson. I played oud for a performance of Enta Omri once, loved it, but afterwards didn't really enjoy listening to the recording of it I had, so I couldn't say where to start with her music.

Edit: as in, the recording by Kulthoum herself.
