Which odd band sampled 'The Message' back in the day?

Bring out the vacuum
It's driving me nuts, have heard some weird instrumental with samples of Grandmaster Flash in it, but can't remember who it's by. The Residents? Nurse With Wound? Someone superficially unlikely-sounding.

The opening bars of instrumentation. From memory it's the first bit of the rhythm section before the descending riff comes in, and it loops but is maybe deliberately out of time, i.e. either starts again too late or too early. Track is otherwise moody and instrumental.

Sounds likely (well, ok, really unlikely, but I remember being baffled when I first heard the sample), but can't find any more information about it. Ah well, will leave it alone.

I have this feeling I actually dreamt it. :slanted:

Chtonic Fatigue Syndrome
Lustmord definitely did a few things with Grandmaster Flash samples, although your exact description doesn't ring a bell. Think it was fairly early on, if that helps.
