Mr. Magic RIP

Mr. Magic is one of those really subliminally important personalities in the early stages of Hip-Hop. Not so much for doing things, as much as he didn't do things...

There's a massive archive of tapes of Mr. Magic shows in my father's basement. I gotta start re-recording those one day...

Nice, like to hear those old tapes too CrowleyHead !
Those early years of hiphop meets radio got all the tribes together to dance,
you knew the tunes and then saw everyone out at midnight at the Roxy or FunHouse.
The Whodini cut brings it all back ... Respect to the individuals, they laid it all out for everyone to have fun with , jump on and ride.
Roc Raida too -saw the X's completely tear it up @ LIncohn Center Fest. once.
Unforgettable.

Sounds like ... then or now ?
I'm thinking of that 'downtempo set' making the rounds early on the Joy Orbison thread ...
