They're obviously vulnerable people in need of help and support but they're also making a choice to get into that stuff and there are plenty of people who suffer from all of those things who don't make that choice.

I used to read Puahate.com years ago. It was fascinating. It was mostly by guys who'd been ripped off by PUA teachers and wanted to vent about it. A lot of these guys were really obviously social awkward or on the spectrum and had been fleeced by dating coaches etc for mutiple grands and still not got laid and were upset. I still recall two guys comparing notes on how they worked on "breaking all social conditioning" via flouting taboos. One had sat on a park bench reading porn, the other had walked through town with a dildo strapped to his head.

They shut it down 'cos Eliot Rodger used to post on it and i think posted a few rants before doing his shooting.

anyway, to state the bleedingly fucking obvious, ostracised men still often accept uncritically all the misogyny of society, while railing against how society is terrible. Want to be loved and/or respected by the people who abused them. And women are the collateral damage, often. Dull.

I agree with this mostly. I don't know if talking with other people in the same boat online helps much though, as there seems to be a whole culture of blame the women/feminists, Brads etc before going on a mass shooting.

There's Men Going Their Own Way as well - which is not getting laid as a political stance, kinda. It's bit like screaming at your Mum I LIKE IT IN HERE ACTUALLY when you've been told to stay in your room.

It puts me in mind of the self harm forums where rather than supporting each other and trying to deal with it they just become increasingly entrenched and goad each other into going further and further.

I think it includes not wanking? Just find it bizarre that when you did finally crack and knock one out you'd have a load of strangers onto the internet to feel guilty to, as well as the usual self-loathing.

i can't even imagine what it would be like to have had unfettered access to hardcore porn since the age of 10, though - the nofap thing makes sense in that context. It's being born into absolute boundary-less madness. That whole thing about lots of young men finding sex a let-down because they have developed a masturbatory deathgrip over years of mole-like porn activity in darkened rooms - dystopian, in a way that is too dystopian even for dystopian dramas to show.

I can understand it but again it's a choice and it's possible to stop watching porn without joining a violent far-right group or deciding to throw yourself into a community based around hating women.

Reddit has banned a community dedicated to the “involuntarily celibate” that was largely populated by men who appear to hate women and in some cases advocate rape.

The 40,000-strong ‘Incels’ community was nominally a “support group” for people who lack romantic relationships and sex. “They are involuntarily celibate or ‘incel’.” However, popular posts from the last few months include ones titled “all women are sluts”; “proof that girls are nothing but trash that use men” and “reasons why women are the embodiment of evil”.

Members describe women as “femoids” and the men they have sex with as “chads”. There are many examples, documented on a watchdog subreddit called IncelTears, where incels have condoned or advocated rape, or described it as a made-up construct.

Last month a member asked for legal advice pretending to be a woman asking a “general question about how rapists get caught”. The poster asked how a woman who was drugged and raped by a random guy would start searching for their attacker.

The group’s rules didn’t explicitly ban women, but state: “Those who continuously claim there are as many female incels in the same situation as male incels will receive a warning and then a ban. Most can agree that women can be incel in some rare situations such as extreme disfigurement, but their numbers do not come close to male incels.”

The community was banned this week after Reddit updated its site-wide policy to prohibit content that “encourages, glorifies, incites or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual or group of people”.

“Communities focused on this content and users who post such content will be banned from the site. As of November 7, r/Incels has been banned for violating this policy,” said a Reddit spokeswoman.

Obviously it's easier said than done, but my point is that these supposed 'support networks' online, with a culture that blames women for being fickle bitches and Chads with their perfect nose ratios, are clearly making their problems far worse. Whereas in the past, shy nerdy young men might have hung out at their local library and eventually got chatting to shy nerdy young women.

At some point you are no longer posting on an incel forum because you can't get laid, so much as you can't get laid because you're posting on an incel forum.

I suppose that's the point at which you really become 'an incel', rather than just a young man who could do with some confidence (and probably a shave, new wardrobe and workout schedule).

isn't it also weird that neo-nazi's in the usa dress up like marvel characters? i was watching some video's from i believe portland and some of those white supremacist were doing a cosplay thing and also they fight with swords and shields. just all a bit strange no?
