@ boomnoise - right. i just remembered appleblim has the dates on his myspace.

SKULL006 & 007 out in March 2007...

SKULL006 Appleblim vs Shackleton 'Soundboy's Ashes Get Chopped Out & Snorted' feat Shackleton ' You Bring Me Down' & Appleblim 'Vansan'....

SKULL007 is a remix of Shackleton's 'Blood On My Hands' by Ricardo Villalobos...an 18 minute deep tech epic spread over two sides of Skull vinyl! Yes mate! DJ support coming from Villalobos, Radioslave aka Rekid (Rekids/Quiet Village), Andrew Weatherall (say no more), Craig Richards (Fabric), Dimbiman (Perlon)

cool, cool. It's definitely #6 I'm interested in then. I heard the villalobos mix in one of his mixes, and while I liked it, it just didn't have a lot of what I liked about the original (e.g. the percussion! and bass!). Although I like some of villalobos' own stuff (just Achso really). The Peverelist you mentioned should be great too!

(just curious: how many of y'all interested in these releases are DJs? certainly not me. I just recently got a working old belt-drive TT, and my only piece of dubstep vinyl is Skull Disco 3 with "blood on my hands", which I picked up a DJ store here in Toronto. almost more of a novelty for me, since I'm totally unused to having to turn something over after one track!)

compilation cd? well damn

count me in as another non dj who needed that record! and I was hoping to get away with the cut from Cassy's mix CD at least but it didn't really work (too little and mixed into a very contrasting record) the b-sides rock, thankfully. I only very occasionally, and very in the last couple of years buy vinyl (again).

pretty uninterested in (idea of) the villalobos remix tbh.

i actually got back into DJing again in 2005 because of dubstep - bought a second deck again and now i'm playing out. before that i hadn't done it for decade.

I'm not big on dubstep but I really, really like that Shackleton mixed by Dubsta mix on the skulldisco.com website, what's the soundsystem like in the Redstar anyone?

it varies a little bit week to week based on how its set up. but it's generally pretty heavy with nuff bass pressure. it's far from crystal though. but it's rawness is appealing.

nah, it was To the Beat at Spadina and College. A bunch of stores in Toronto are now stocking Dubstep vinyl (4 that I know of: Play de, 2 the Beat, Slinky, Rotate This!)

From the Guttah, Shackleton at Rooted. Mostly just him DJing with lots of heads nodding, but at the end there's a tiny interview with him. Apparently there's a Skull Disco CD compilation of the releases so far coming out. Sounds great for those not sure how much they want to drop on vinyl...

Wasn't Shackleton at Herbal last night? Anyone go? I couldn't because I have a horde of small children descending on my ivory tower tonight and thought I'd need my beauty sleep to be ready for a weekend of charging round the Natural History Museum.

I take that back, someone actually did say that.

Bloody hell, some of these yoots are nearing on self-parody now.

you reckon? what the guy said next after the comedy 'crack head mooosic' comment was this:

"sum elements are ok but ud hav to be on sumthin to stay the whole night at a dubstep event. its head jarrin"

on the fucking money as far as i'm concerned.

Isn't the whole point that it is head (and body) jarring tho? If anything it could stand to be a bit more head-jarring.
