which country is responsible for the worst music?

Someone mentioned Plastic Bertrand being French. He's not actually, he was born in Brussels. As much as I'd like to nominate Belgium for producing crap music - too much trance and Scala - there's so much goodness being made as well. I mean, Telex! dEUS! Evil Superstars! Lords of Acid! (Shut...

    Walkman chic

I remember reading a few years ago that having no mobile was the new cool. Whatever. I never much cared for a minidisc. Have one which is gathering dust somewhere in the attic. Everyone I know who has a minidisc has had his/her minidisc break down at least once. Very costly to repair so I...

What software do you do your writing on?

I used Microsoft Office for everything. But since the email program decided to crash every few months, I switched back to Mail as it's easier to store (?) the email address on Address Book and use iSYNC as backup. Does that make sense? Anyway, I still use Word and Excel as it's easier to send...

When people with "Normal Music Taste" ask you what you listen to...

People don't really ask me. If they do, I give the cliche answer:"all sorts of music." and change the subject. I don't like talking about music *in real life* (a few people excepted).

Dear PitchforkMedia, You are really freaking me out (Re. Ruff Sqwad)

"i am just baffled as to how anyone could continue, in 2005, to fill their lives with this undistinguished glut of indie/avant/whatever]" Well, some people just don't grow tired of it. I'm always weary of making such assumptions, some people *move on*, some people stick to a genre believing...

Clubbing with dignity at an advanced age

Reminds me of my parents, in their mid-30s, taking me to the New Beat club The Boccaccio when I was about 14/15 yrs old. It wasn't so much the club/music itself but the fact they had friends working there. Japan seems to be more openminded about age, fashion and so on. I could be wrong, but...

DJ fined €1.4m for massive 'illegal' music cache

Some Belgian MP3 blogs have been warned to take away links to illegal download sites. The bloggers immediately removed said links and some even hired a lawyer. It's wrong, but I don't think there's a law against linking to such sites.

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

Wouldn't it be because labels aren't really concerned with who's *best*. Their main concern is making a profit.

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

I rrrrrrreally love Lady Sov. As much as I like Shystie, I thought her record was a letdown. So yes, I guess her latest single, Random, is very *accessible* and will probably/hopefully do well with the *general public*. The fact remains she's good. I love how people *blame* her looks for all...
