    Gqom

gqom bangs. i've been hoarding this stuff for a while now. the weird sustained-one-synth-note that's in virtually every song put me off trawling through tracks online for while, but it is amazing. the massive tom rolls, the spooky reverb. seriously percussive shit and really atmospheric. saw...

Hairway To Steven (/ copycats to court, part.2)

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-26/led-zeppelin-can-exit-stairway-suit-for-just-1 So apparently this is not news to anyone (first reported by UK papers in the mid 90s or something...), but representatives for the (amazing) band Spirit are officially suing Led Zeppelin for ripping...

    I LOVE MUSIC LOL

i'm only a part timer on here anyway though. have enjoyed some of the recent non-music threads on the D - the one about london, the one about working / jobs - they got ppl talking for a bit.

    I LOVE MUSIC LOL

following luka's inspiring roll call - i may well be wrong here, but in terms of things slowing down i'm just going to put my foot in it and say that I think certain ppl have maybe got too into being deep tech evangelists recently ;) no problem with that (maybe cos it's from london?) and it...

The 70s vs Pharrell / Robin Thicke

not really trying to argue anything here, just pointing out that it's an interesting case + expressing a general dislike for a lot of that 70s pastiche pop stuff that's been making waves for a while now... it's more the Pharrell quote that I was interested in, the one about inspiration. it's...

The 70s vs Pharrell / Robin Thicke

isn't pharrell in trouble too though? it's not just robin thicke getting in trouble. i know about his r&b stuff too, heard some fine bits of his b4. what a way to finally explode on to the global pop scene ey... how about "happy" by Pharrell though? are Curtis Mayfield or whoever's fam now gona...

The 70s vs Pharrell / Robin Thicke

also @datwun - sample clearance has been a thing for years. there are whole departments of lawyers at labels clearing samples and taking tracks down off the back of them all the time. this has obviously revealed a much bigger crime than just sample clearance imo.

The 70s vs Pharrell / Robin Thicke

sampling isn't innately good anyway - it's only good if it's used well. don't get me wrong, i love shit like the below, but it really has to stop...
