My frustration with Dn'B listeners in the states

the second wasteland mix is probably even better and the second half is all dubstep (except for a couple sizzla tunes)

    dnb and The Wire

well matt i guess you'll have to kill one of the other columns to take control of the pack. (i can think of two columns that need to get gone and quick and they are called "dub" and "electronica".) they're more scared of you than you are of them.

    dnb and The Wire

it wouldn't bother me so much dave if this wasn't a magazine that once put gang starr on the cover, ran the first in depth interview/feature on timbaland i read anywhere, and published simon's 2-step piece. though i admit they've been doing their new thing long enough that maybe it's a wholly...

    dnb and The Wire

i would happily write about dnb for the wire. unfortunately i dont really have time to pitch them. (from what i hear from people who have written/write for them, it's a veeeerrrrry long process between initial query and actually seeing something in the paper.) nor do i necessarily think they'd...

    Recent Jungle Albums

oh i know fresh is a big cheesy, cheeky monkey, martin. i just dont care. i figure anyone who enjoys lil jon or pcp-style gabba can get something out of fresh. (on the bad side i guess you could throw nu-metal and pop-emo in there too. ;) )

    Recent Jungle Albums

Everyone should sound like me. ;) The one comp. no one's mentioned yet is Paradox's Drumfunk Vol. 1. I underrated this at the time, mostly because it's all stuff that'd been released already/caned into the ground, but every track is a blinder. I am pretty sure you can still download the...

    4hero/reinforced docu on 1xtra

the weird thing is that reinforced continued to be one of the few labels which did their own thing all the way up, even through the major label bullshit. they were putting out great records as late as 2003.

    Sa-Ra "Second Time Around"

"glorious" is their best tune, i think. one of the best things i've heard this year at any rate. like the more minimal moments on the d'angelo albums crossed with the better n.e.r.d. stuff. (there's something about it that reminds me, weirdly, of ar kane too.) i like a lot of the stuff in this...

The realisation that you don't really like house music much any more...

threads like this are pretty much why i dont post here anymore. p.s. most dubstep i've heard is as rhythmically retarded as your average house record.

    Annie

matt i have to say i am surprised you like this. i like it less and less each time i hear it. diminishing returns.

    Delia and Gavin.

haha not what i expected them to look like AT ALL

    Tense Nervous House Music

heh, ironically paul, i think house is experiencing one of its hipster appreciation upticks right now this looks great, btw

    wasteland - vulture culture 2

i pretty much agree with alex. first half (the rap/rnb half) better than the first half of the first one, second half (dubstep half) a bit of a letdown compared to the second half of the first one (grime/ardkore/basic channel). but then i don't really like dubstep so whatever.

haha my negative review is suspiciously absent!

    Plush's "Fed"

this is the sort of thing that really makes me miss woebot

    "black man freestyle"

it's probably doogz over "pulse x" ("i still hate malcom x's shooter/biggie and tupac two poweful black men", etc.?)

    happy hardcore

happy hardcore is (was?) great! does it really not exist anymore? what took its place?

Dear PitchforkMedia, You are really freaking me out (Re. Ruff Sqwad)

the "this month in..." columns are hopefully going to be a regular thing. aside from dancehall and techno/tech-house, there's also going to be a "the month in grime" (by martin c), and "the month in dnb/jungle/breakcore" (no guesses as to who that one's by.) all praise for this stuff should go...

What PostPunk has RIU&SA make you drolly over?

One of the truly great things about RIU&SA is that you get to hear the blissblogger talking about really quite famous records...And you're just overpowered by the need to check them out again. i had this exact reaction with the meat puppets stuff once i finished the sst chapter. up on...
