    The Eurocult Film Thread

agreed with all of that, but worth pointing out that the absence of any Brit stuff was likely due to him having covered it in the History of Horror series that aired a couple of years ago. Hammer, Amicus and the other usual suspects (Wicker Man etc) got a full episode in that. Bava was...

    Western Movies

Wyatt Earp is the most classic lawman of all, and there's quite a few pictures with or about him. Of those My Darling Clementine is the original badboy.

    Freak Waves

spent this afternoon doing the same thanks to your post! then reading about "rogue waves" on wikipedia. have since decided that a life at sea is not for me. in fact not sure i'd risk a dover-calais/rowing boat in the park anymore  terrifying and awe inspiring in equal measures

He didnt mention it but I did. Can I claim that slap to the face?

    Acid Westerns

also I notice that in the first post IdleRich you mentioned The Shooting but not Ride The Whirlwind, also by Hellman with Jack Nicholson in it. I just bought it the other day (2.99 on HMV.com!) and haven't watched it yet, so I don't know how good or acidy it is. There's a gushing quote from...

Sure. Alfredo has a proper dose of weirdness to go along with its Western style frontier mythos, liminal space stuff tho.

    Acid Westerns

Yeah I didn't really like it much either as it goes. Thought it warranted a mention though. Kinda maybe another one... 'Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia'... contemporary setting (contemporary to 1974 anyway), but very odd and hard not to read in relation to Peckinpah's other 'proper'...

    Dwain Chambers

i really don't buy that. Sure PEDs can help you throw harder and hit harder, but most of the benefit in baseball is exactly what you said... "to maintain peak performance (combat wear and tear) and can't add anything to players' skill". HGH cant teach Cronaldo a step-over, but it didnt teach...

Tell that to Roger Clemens, and Barry Bonds, and the last x amount of years of MLB.

Surprising incidental music on crap telly

as someone predicted in the 'untrue' thread, Burial made his Top Gear debut last week. A snippet of one of the ambient ones over Clarkson looking pensive as he contemplated rave's lost dream... harrowing stuff

    Favourite Jungle MCs

yep MC MC and he didn't do jungle much that i remember but i loved Robbie D I remember seeing a picture of him after listening to tapes with him on for ages, and being suitably impressed that he looked like a dread locked alien. It was a bit like the opposite of football commentators not...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

hallo i have the 'man, pride & vengeance' one, which is decent quality. not a spotless print, but they never are are they. ive also got 'the big gundown' reconstruction too, which is fine as well. dunno about the rest the english dubbing doesn't bother me much with these

    WOEBOT.tv

really enjoyed that :) agree that it is a great format. maybe i look in the wrong places but it is refreshing to see an enthusiastic critical engagement with music in an audio/visual form that amounts to so much more than the hagiographies or sounmdbites we get on tv.
