Is there really no one else who's excited at the return of Dem 2?

lol only just checked this out for some reason but it's wicked, really like the housier direction of their second tune. just wish i hadn't seen that photo that corpsey posted of them in the garage poll thread.

I used to mix that in to sets circa 2001 when there wasn't enough early dubstep about. Jay da flex sold it to me in blackmarket. There's parallels with the openness of that era now tbh.

im amazed that thats 10 years old, that ive never heard it before, and that the dude from attica blues did it. that guy had so much greatness in him, he deserves more recognition but maybe he never quite caught it all on record, or maybe it was just the wrong time.
The fact that this sounds so 'now' signifies the sideways movement of this post dubstep / new london house stuff. there's not much shock of the new to be found in it. but a lot of it is very cool.

no idea where to put this but i like it -
this would mix well with that 'i am the information' track imo

good call, gumdrops. i just found a promo of this art department cd ("the drawing room") last week at reckless in soho, it's pretty cool. a little weird, stripped down, some reviewers refer to it as gothic house.

We were down and had a brilliant night, big up all deejay. Alison was particularly feeling the older dubstep stuff that you were playing, I was just loving everything.

It looked like you were in more contact with the management than you'd really have wanted, though...

ah wicked, glad you had a good night :)

yeah there were many more altercations with management than i would have wanted but still, least we didn't get locked off!

What was the issue? Was it just the volume / bass levels?

Anyway, respect for putting it on and for keeping it going all night!

New 2562 album is wicked. I think it owes a lot more to US/European music than the UK hardcore continuum but this is probably the best thread for some 2562 appreciation

he made it all from 1 record/sample, no additional analogue synths or VST's

It really annoys me when people do things like this. I mean who really cares? Would you be able to tell if it wasn't in the press release?
It's like a boring conceptual art idea.
If it sounds good it's good, if not it isn't, no matter what he used to make it.

Amon Tobin used to go on about this, how his whole album was built from field samples of insects or whatever, thing is he was using microsamples, at that level it's nothing but a waveform, it becomes irrelevant (in terms of the finished sound of the record) where it originated.
