I know a lot of people don't like end-of-the-year lists and that a lot of people particularly hate seeing them when the year isn't even over yet but... I'm not one of those people!

So, I want to see what y'all Dissensus posters can come up with for your favourite 10 records of the year, starting right now. Let's see your lists people!

Of course, I'm doing this because I just came up with my own list. You can see the TLDR version on my blog...

http://bubblegumcage3.com/2010/12/02/albums-of-the-year-2010/

...but for ease of digestion, here's the top ten. Drum roll, please....

1. Oneohtrix Point Never - Returnal

2. Oval - O

3. Mount Kimbie - Crooks & Lovers

4. Sylvain Chauveau - Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated)

5. Actress - Splazsh

6. Mark Van Hoen - Where is the Truth

7. Loscil - Endless Falls

8. Klimek - Movies is Magic (Extended Version)

9. A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Autumn, Again

10. Fenn O'Berg - In Stereo

Anyone else got a list ready yet?

As long as their not just the 10 biggest records or whatever, lists and charts are all good as far as I'm concerned. Always find a few bits you didn't know about.

i'll do one before the year is out

Same.

Grooveman's spots album should top it I think

Aww Nein

Wild Palms
Dem Hunger - Caveman Smack and Ariel Pink - Before Tomorrow are the two best i can think of, but it will require a lot of thinking as my memory is pretty rubbish. Ikonika, Actress, Dj Nate and Salem also, i reckon moon wiring and the shackleton fabric will be very good but havnt listened yet. most of what i listen to arnt albums though, more and more its mixes/youtube, fragmented internet music for the eternal present...

best tulava track was that one noizy posted up in his tulava thread...

yeah wooo riddim killed it this year i reckon, can't think of another one that prominent, even tho it was strictly a 2009 drop I think but it took over this year.

giggs and devlin get special mentions for good major label releases.

Boring year for music, well illustrated by connect_icut's list; seems like it was made for reading a book or studying while listening

Usually make a best of list, but this year there really has been very very few interesting releases

the top 10 records I have purchased and most played would be

Cosmin TRG - Know you know E.P
Modeselektor - Art + Cash (SBTRKT Remix)
Geiom - Luna
Ramadanman - Fall Short / Work Them
Falty DL - Phreqaflex
Joe - Claptrap
Jam City - Ecstasy Refix
Breach - Fatherless / Man Up
Cosmin TRG - Space Station Love Affair (this is new but I have been rinsing it - an instant favourite)
Smith & Mighty - U Dub (repress)

special mentions to the Mala LP & Horsepower LP as they are on heavy rotation

*also wish the woo riddim had come out on 12" as that would have been there (or better yet woo x glut)

There're a few lists with stuff that falls into those spaces between dubstep, minimal techno etc.

This is not a criticism, but more a question, having listened to Elgato - Tonight....I mean, it's fine, but it sounds a bit like ambient jungele without the thrill/contrast of the ruff breaks to offset the smoothness. Bass is nice, mind. It's all, very tasteful. As I say, not a criticism, I'm genuinely perplexed as to its appeal beyond a 'yeah, this is quite nice' reaction.

Liking the Jam City Ectsasy refix, mind.

There's certainly a fine line between lovely deep lose yourself in the music type tunes and tunes that are just boring.

I personally think Tonight/Blue is one of the best Hessles yet

true, I also think its about what you want from the track, I mostly buy vinyl to play out so my ears are listening for tracks that work on the dancefloor, some tracks are great but lack the punch I want

tbh, I never really started watching Ramadanman until Wad, his earlier SJ stuff didnt really grab me, but he seems to have found a groove/impact in his tracks that wasnt there before

shutterbug wasnt even the best song on big bois album. the remix of shine blockas was the best imo. not really a top ten, but my favourite albums this year are prob ariel pink, salem, dj nate, king midas sound, mala. cant think what else just now. favourite songs list would prob be a lot longer.
