cheers for the knowledge Droid, I had a feeling you might know. I'd never heard of Clifton Dillon before so I found your posts very interesting. Will check out those other links you posted too.

When I listened to that 5-F man tune for the first time, I'd had a smoke and it just seemed to jump out as something quite special and odd. Futuristic even.

edit: not even gonna attempt to describe why I like it. I suppose like a lot of dancehall stuff, it shouldn't work but it just does.

for anyone interested, heres the shabba/specialist tune just discussed. http://www.mediafire.com/?68a9ko7rob7t8vb

Love how shabba shouts 'You flippin' fool!' at the start. Also like how the snares and weird sped up laughter sounds swirl about in the stereo field. Then you get these mad little off-key steel pan bits and heavy metal power chords that don't seem to have anything to do with each other. Somehow it works though.

Darned cockwombles.
Yeah, it's really special. When the drums come in, it all starts to hang together brilliantly. Any other dancehall riddims composed from seemingly really disparate elements?

dont listen to everyone telling you to listen to heatwave. theres nothing wrong with them but there are 10000000000 other djs that do upfront dancehall better on other stations and in other clubs that cater primarily to a reggae audience.

What is a good place to stay updated on Dancehall? I need to know when things like this are happening.

that riddim is fire!

..I've been wanting to find the same thing, I mostly just use the big youtube channels like krish genius when im trying to catchup on dancehall or just feeling in the mood but it feels very impersonal. following people on facebook is ok aswell, still havnt come across any good online radio stations streaming from JA,. used to listen to Ujima when I lived in bristol.

Mediazempire is the big source for downloading but alot of good stuff doesnt get put up & I lose patience trawling through stuff on there.
