I like looking at old threads like this when they resurface from the depths. Demographic changes aside, I get the impression that by 2021 so many of us have imbibed so much internet discourse that we're better trained in what to say, how much we need to caveat and all that. Sometimes I feel that one of the legacies of the last decade will be that loads of us spent a lot of time talking to other people on the internet and got used to hearing what other people had to say, heard other perspectives about mundane and profound shit, in a way that even reading a shit tonne of books couldn't do.
