imagine if he met a quiet unassuming girl from peckham named Isabelle. she'd be in tears right now. small mercies.

You've missed the point and constantly relating things to you and how it reaches you. You're worthless in this equation same way I am. You have to think of things in relation to the transmission and it's not transmitting from a world where LTJ Bukem or Eno matters. The ambience isn't real, its fuel. The same way Drill pianos with their two note melodies aren't real. Divorce yourself from how you grab it, think of why it was done in the first place on IT'S TERMS. Xenakis doesn't exist here! You and I don't exist! The board doesn't exist! TESCO DOESN'T EXIST.

TESCO NEVER HAPPENED THIRD.

im just trying to start a fight about the massive counter-revolutionary role of brian eno in the global historical mission of the contending classes. otherwise i suppose i am an outsider. im not a black guy from atlanta. im a turk from north london so american commercialisation is always gonna pass me by to an extent. what you're asking for is a deep immersion in the scene but there isn't something that drives me to being that immersed. I've got young thug's discography at my fingertips but id rather listen to ying yang twins and ludacris from 03.

i strongly believe that it is a grave sin to hoard knowledge, particularly in this context, a forum which is predicated on everyone contributing that which they have to contribute. it is analagous to bit-torrents. if you are taking what others proffer without giving back in return you are in spiritual error and liable to be damned.

the system breaks down. we need your contribution and in witholding it you retard our collective progress and stunt our understanding.

crowley you must understand that capital xtra was the worst thing that could have happened to us. we used to be on the pulse but now we are being severed from your cosmic rays. this is very serious.

The thing right here you're thinking of them as Americans and they don't even think of themselves as Americans REALLY because what did you say before? Turk from North London? There's that instantaneous level of distinction alone, you're reacting to a lot more that's traversing and informing you. Connect this to Luka's theorems about African and Jamaican ancestry in the nuum if you so please.

Likewise you're saying "Yes I have Young Thug's discography at hand but I'd rather go to Ludacris and Ying Yang Twins" and that's great. But that also doesn't take the time to figure out what he's doing outside of his records as isolated records. Ying Yang Twins come from a lineage of Atlanta Bass MCs like Hitman Sammy Sam. You can know that without having to go back through the Ying Yang Twins catalog and then conclude "Well obviously something made Ying Yang Twins sound like Ying Yang Twins" the same way fucking Source Direct or whomever had to sound like the way they did.

You're placing the notion of American Commercialisation and TESCOization because you're thinking of the means of transmission and reception and how it was given to you and the intermediaries. You're reacting to thunder, not lightning.

Anyway I'm legitimately honestly just at a loss as to what and how I'm supposed to say what Luka wants me to point to. There's a lot of ground to cover.

tell me if i read you wrong but what i thought you were saying is- the rap music barty is championing
as the future is already old

given barty thinks it peaked in, i think 16? maybe? i don't think even he would disagree with that
but what it suggests as corollary is that it's old, not just becasue i'ts peaked, but because new developments have supplanted it. i was
wanting to know what those developments are.

...

The Detroit Double Time style, the UK Drill aesthetic (even though that one's cauterizing as we speak probably), The Afro-Trap sound (basically dead or dying), Post-Gates Neo-Country Rap, "Broken Underground", the hyperdistorted sludgy 'metallic' realm of Soundcloud rap (facing danger of similar cauterization), The Valee Flow (which is starting to become its own genre at this rate).

That's all I can do at this minute it seems. The Detroit Double Time is however the big one because that informs SOB x RBE who are informing a lot of newer and younger California talents who are becoming the big new wave.

Stuff like this:

bridges to stuff like this:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/toAIhYu2pck" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TlSqHGmzMUY" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nMmubxhVmwk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

and leads to stuff like this:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/s8nGaZ4d2tc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FJsdDwE5Z2w" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Which in turn bounces back across to California resulting in this:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Uwgf2iJXGN4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oao5JDrdgPk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And that has now gestated:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0cWno4CGE54" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iSbdtFKELx8" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

On both sides too:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NuAjl9_MtRs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The trick is in the run-on sentences, the moments of friction in the pockets of the beat, the erratic energy that can easily become a formula but becomes about dawdling and the unnecessary over emphasis on certain syllables or deliberate staggering. Everything appears to be slowing down again (or rather I can't remember examples of it being exceptionally brisk and higher BPMs to cite) but that's also because a lot of these guys get scooped and molded to slow down to fit current radios. When you're being asked to become lower key to suit the dirge, it naturally relies on you to calm not the others to excite.

I'm also imagining on a production edge people will note the roller-boogie/electro 80s tendencies and mutter how "we've done this before, the Afrika Bambataa shit" and the real trick is in moments where either that vibe gets put in extremes or married to the current downer modernity:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/K_y4sE3jBHU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also this has mostly been contained in an axis of Detroit and the Bay Area but it's started to billow out and bleed into the nearby areas such as LA or Chicago
