that attica blues remix he played is fucking killer. maybe the best song attica blues ever did actually (the original is good too).

fell off for a bit there...

was just checking an Addison set from the Boiler Room...

the track at around the 17 minute mark that sounds like Burial post-Todd vocals run through the Addison
sound... that is an Addison Groove track right? is it making the rounds?

^ great stuff. the Blawan set is also good from that night.

This was the first Boiler Room on a Monday night rather than Tuesday. Suits a Monday night much better imo. Can't believe no one else is doing this kind of thing!

Really??????

Sounds like a really bad version of a boring 'Breaks' tune.
I used to really enjoy your Rinse show Blackdown, I can't bear to listen to it now.
I know you want to play music by new producers and that but is it really worth it if they sound like this?
I miss the old days when you introduced me to quality 2 step & grime amongst the upfront Dubstep

yeah not feeling that post-"black sun"/deadboy pitchbent stuff at all. sucks the life out of your shows tbh, could say the same about oneman's sets in the past year too. damu? don't get the hype.

on the other hand that eski-funky ableton mix was on point.

I'm not really feeling that track either and I really dig a load of that kind of thing. There's something a bit stale about it, the drums don't do anything for me.

This does simular things way better for me: Another Girl by Jacques Greene. I can't play a lot of this in sets though I feel like it all works better in small doeses to brighten up things a little for a quick refreshing euphoric energy rush amongst a load of otehr stuff, which makes me want to move more. Damu does the smeared synths really well too. I'm trying to think of a few others my minds gone blank.

whoooot?! 'king of the stars' is anthem-worth.

maybe it's a bit bland/stale, but then again most of post-dubstep/etc. is like that...

I'd still like to hear more from Wise, since we still play 2step, grime and dubstep amongst the uk funky and 130 synth stuff...

Thing is with that Original Face tune the ideas are headfucky and all over the place... just like grime in it's early days. That tune moves it on from anything after Hyph Mngo but injects a huge amount of energy into the mix which is what young producers like Original Face do best.

My problem with bass music at the moment is that it is slowly turning into boring progressive european techno. This is not a case of the scene cybernetics moving into negative, shit wobble or violence, it is a worry that it turns dreary, 'intelligent' or progressive.

Blackdown my opinion is that you need to stick with producers like Original Face and Damu etc, and even if you aren't playing them you need to coach them and give feedback until their levels rise. And they are most definitely rising.

exactly. the drop seems to take near-wobble synths and instead of making them sound like a child having a tantrum, makes them simultaneously part of the rhythm and the melody.

Couldn't agree more, i'm getting sent so much safe, tepid house & techno right now, which isn't what i'm looking for, as much as i do like the creme of techno & house.

Interesting to see them dividing people on here. Personally I think they're really exciting and I speak to Damu regularly.
