I don't need to listen to the dulcet tones of the usta who learnt the classics of ottoman literature at his fathers feet at the age of three whilst having his own bed. most of our 10 strong families slept on the floor of a one room house in 1943 ya daft cunts, let alone knowing how to read and write modern turkish, let alone ottoman.

I'm listening to some left wing turkish folk soul about american imperialism. it all seems so quaint now. it's like, anti-americanism is just so nonsense now. it carries no cultural currency. not like it did in the 60s-70s. back then it actually meant something to the world working class. now we see all our socialist, theological and humanitarian leaders are just as much crooks as the Americans.

whereas the kind of audio collage anti-americanism of nono is still relevant today, if only as an agitprop docment and an exercise in tape music, in the technical advances of the industrial process that the proletarians are faced with. It still has something to say. the stuff im listening to atm only really resonates with folk nostalgics and historical leftist reenactment societies. It's not about futurism or progress. We're already in the future. we have to reflect it. there is no progress to be made but we can still somehow realise something out of the noise. not in terms of innovation but in terms of brute force. in terms of exploring an alternative vocabulary.

I really wish I could write well but my brain isn't geared for it. Idk if it's dyslexia, dyspraxia or what, but I'm way better at talking than writing. When I write all the thoughts come rushing at once and it's hard to compartmentalise. Always end up rereading what I've written to check I said what I meant to. Kind of frustrating. I'm much more coherent in person, honest!
