dj ss - hearing is believing

dj mayhem - inesse - ray keith remix

ray keith - sing time (vibes!)

dj crystl - warpdrive remix

that remix is so nuts... and you'll miss it just a wee bit on the web. on a rig with sub pushing air past your face... the kinda weird staccato beat, so raw, and it just goes on and on getting switched to the drop... which sounds so good your scalp feels like its peeling off. beat comes back and its heaven. cuts to those zappy laser edits. raghrgrgn...

tamsin and the monk - a better place - crystl remix

rood project - thunder

intense - the quickening
personal fave. so irie/eerie... the beats and synths, everything about it so dope.

I've just started buying some old jungle records but most of are pretty expensive collectors items now (dunno if its cds yer after). So I just got this compilation which probably saved me at least a couple of hundred quid if I'd bought them all seperately.

Jungle renegades volume 1

Its all classic 1994 stuff. Definitely worth picking up if its vinyl you're after.

yeah that's nice, not heard that, for me the lost junglist is marvelous cain

Yeah, he kinda sunk into mediocrity with his later releases on subbase and Runnin', and then just vanished. His LP is fantastic though.

Formation is a seriously underated label. I kinda think of them as the 4th big label after shadow, subbase and reinforced.

So good to see other people remember Marvelous Cain. His album, along with Kemet Crew's are the great jungle treasures.

And just to represent for the post-amen rinse-out de-generation, here's the original minimalist proto-2step "jazzy" choon: Alex Reece - Pulp Fiction

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

this is also well into the "intelligent" :slanted: drum and bass era that was the beginning of the end for jungle, but it's a gorgeous tune with that sighing Burial-esque emotional lushness: Futurebound - Sorrow

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

D00d, just get one thing into yr head about jungle. It' the most significant and original Limey music of the last 20 years!! simon Reynolds should write a book on it, coz they've never done any decent music since! All British 'electronica' that is worth pissing on is derived from jungle. They finally got their own indigenous 'soul' music via jungle. Fuck the simulacrum that was Brit-pop and shoegazer, jungle is the real deal.

It's as simple as that!

no junglists in dallas

well sadly no ones aware of jungle here in dallas. when people (in dallas) think UK its the sixties and Oasis, no one's aware of grime and acid house ardkore, jungle etc. most havent even heard of Burial or Dizzee Rascal.Someone should write about Jungle, i've seen simon reynolds books in the art museum. I read the one about post-punk and wait, isn't Enery Flash about jungle and stuff?
