Blackdown made a thread on DSF asking for new talent. I went through the list of producers he was recommended and since many of them fit here, I figured I'd post my highlights

This guy might have been posted here before, he's definitely got some talent that merits further exploration. I wish the whole track was like 2:45

Again, the talent is definitely there, it just hasn't fully realized itself yet.

Feeling this

Something for the 150-160bpm thread. This guy seems fairly established. Third and fourth tracks on the EP are pretty decent, even though they tend to fall on the side of the MEN WHO TAMED THE SAVAGE GENRES. Fourth track might be really fun to drop with that crazy switch

Definitely feeling this guy

not THE biggest fan of house music (excluding funky of course) but found myself following this guy regardless. He's got some quality beats, like the second track on this EP. Also fairly established so a lot of you are probably aware of him

I think somebody showed this to me once before and I didn't like it. I like it now though. Also, for some reason everybody wants to remix this tune, I swear I heard at least 4 different versions of it going through that list. This is the only one to have the good grace to cut out that 'if you notice this notice' bit though.

Falsely labeled as footwork in my opinion, but it's got a vibe to it, especially after 2:50. He needs to put more work into his garage productions though, right now they fall just short, but they could be good.

this guy knows how to work suspense, that's a rare quality in my experience. Could very well be the best thing on the list

SURPRISINGLY good for a 15-year-old. I'm really impressed, though I guess many of you already knew about this guy.

That about sums it up. Going through that thread took all of my Saturday evening and my Sunday morning, including some of the afternoon. I can't say it was that pleasant of an experience but at least I found some new producers that are worth keeping an eye on, even if nothing really blew me away. The amount of Burial impersonators on that list was heartbreaking, and I was surprised to find so many 'dungeon cellar' dubstep artists as well, who I don't have the patience for. Some of the future garage guys there (eg TOTTE, Mr. Beeb) had obvious production skills, but I just can't stomach the music personally, so you're going to have to check them out yourself if you're interested. Also I haven't included a number of artists here who I was already aware of and had posted about in the past (eg Dave Quam, Pedro 123 and most of the producers Blackdown was already playing).

Haha rivero you beat me to it! Have started but not yet finished. That said the way you describe the experience is pretty true to demo listening, not fun mostly. Agree with you on the dungeon & burial clones!

Played a few of his tracks on the Chococast. Some of his new stuff is storming, straight wheel up business.
cool. Got a link to a podcast?

At times I feel like it should be high paying work. You know, the kind of work that takes no qualifications but is a serious health hazard or something to that effect

Yh the pull up is a Settles track.
The track before it is:

The one at 38:18 is this big boy:

o god I totally missed that track when I first listened to that hyperdub collection. Now I'm really glad I put it in my pitchfork people's list :f Thanks!

Beneath showcase sounding large, would love a tracklist for that. Some tribal voodoo shit, reminds me of Kode9 from way back (I really hope he isn't actually playing Kode9 tunes from way back)

Cool. I really liked that Wen showcase off your blog. Best dubstep I've heard in a while. I think I prefer Wen to LHF, bit more focus mebbe...

Obviously I love them both but yeah Wen has a sense of focus. Funny you think it's dubstep though, as while it has some of that vibe - and some from grime - it's 130 ;)

Did you ever watch the footage that led to the "Mr. 67"? Visionist won a place in my heart for his... eclectic dancing to Addison Groove.
I was one of the people in the Boiler Room channel :) I felt like a part of history
