Now, just in case this isn't clear: This protest is not one made or sustained by the Muslim Brotherhood, it's one that had people from all social classes and religious background in Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood only showed up on Tuesday, and even then they were not the majority of people there by a long shot. We tolerated them there since we won't say no to fellow Egyptians who wanted to stand with us, but neither the Muslims Brotherhood not any of the Opposition leaders have the ability to turn out one tenth of the numbers of Protesters that were in Tahrir on Tuesday. This is a revolution without leaders. Three Million individuals choosing hope instead of fear and braving death on hourly basis to keep their dream of freedom alive. Imagine that.

The End is near. I have no illusions about this regime or its leader, and how he will pluck us and hunt us down one by one till we are over and done with and 8 months from now will pay people to stage fake protests urging him not to leave power, and he will stay "because he has to acquiesce to the voice of the people". This is a losing battle and they have all the weapons, but we will continue fighting until we can't. I am heading to Tahrir right now with supplies for the hundreds injured, knowing that today the attacks will intensify, because they can't allow us to stay there come Friday, which is supposed to be the game changer. We are bringing everybody out, and we will refuse to be anything else than peaceful. If you are in Egypt, I am calling on all of you to head down to Tahrir today and Friday. It is imperative to show them that the battle for the soul of Egypt isn't over and done with. I am calling you to bring your friends, to bring medical supplies, to go and see what Mubarak's gurantees look like in real life. Egypt needs you. Be Heroes.

Mr Tea, thank you for posting the pics. I have fixed the links now but it is better to see the images on the page on your post. I think the designer adapted them well for use in the poster. Mubarak must go! Thanks!

Actually, I'm now on the hunt for audio of massive crowds and protests. Zhao?
sorry only saw this now. i sampled loads of crowds and chanting and speeches for the mash-tune i made on the previous page from youtube. quality is bad but there are a lot if you search for them... for sure very interesting sonics going on with things like this and on this scale... Chris Watson should be in Tahiri square with his armory of mics, would surely result in an amazing album of field recordings.

thanks sufi. after some confusion and conflicting translations (from the arabic speakers i was able to find standing in front of the S-Bahn station, and making them listen to the passage on my ipod ) i think i finally got an exact translation from a friend:

"It's true that patience has limits!! pray Al-Fajr on the ruins and say ... say !! To die for our land!!"

which is OK with me. balances out the other voice which came right before, which says "this is not a war about guns and bombs", and gives another perspective.

this experience has taught me to be much more careful in the future... the audio came from a protest video - - from 1:35 - i was in such a hurry to get the thing done and up, and the images in the video made me think that it is probably for sure a positive message. i am lucky that the voice is not saying something much more objectionable (such as anti-semitism).

Glenn Beck just claimed India and Ireland are about to fall to Islamic revolution in a wave spreading from Egypt...........

Yeah, his line about Mubarak and Israel is just unbelievable. Well, actually it isn't really. It's a great principle, though, very adaptable: "Peter Sutcliffe may have murdered a dozen women with a hammer, which isn't nice exactly, but OTOH he deserves credit for not making any trouble with Israel..."

S5, you got a link for that Beck quote? That guy just keeps going from strength to strength, I mean we've got Clarkson and Littlejohn but he's in a different league altogether.

Guardian did a round-up of US right-wing commentary on Egypt early last week, in its blog/comments section, somewhere (helpful aren't i?).

Today's running news making depressing reading. Lots of targeted arrests, while keeping Tahrir itself fairly orderly. Looks like attempt to take the steam out of the revolution without (visibly) crushing it. We'll see how quickly US/EU resort to nothing-to-see-here/our-bastard default mode.

I think the basic message is, don't watch the news or try and find out anything ever.

I'd quite like to see Glenn Beck replace Andy Gray on Sky Sports Special. God only knows what he'd have made of Arsenal's second half collapse against Newcastle United.
