Didn't Asian Dub Foundation do an opera about Gaddaffi?

Talk about choosing the wrong side...

I think a friend of mine went to see that. So was it some sort of hagiography?

My recollection is that it portrayed him as being a complex character but without being too critical of him. I never saw it tho.

Far better was Stewart Home's punk song which went:

Libya Libya, land of the free!
    Libya Libya!
    Libya Libya!
    All out for nuclear war
    And the next evolutionary phase!

Followed by some stuff about Colonel Gaddaffi, Ken Livingstone and some other randoms etc being "our leader".

It's one of the tracks here: http://stewarthomesociety.org/sp/comes.htm

Maybe it was that pic MIA had in mind when she described Gaddafi as a "fashion icon".

there's been a whole kfc theme in the protests since mubarak apparently paid the biltagiaat thugs with kfc to beat up protestors

Those are great, Sufi - seems like there is a KFC in Tahir square so Mubarak accused the protestors of being american stooges (cos many of them got their food from there during the occupation of the protest). So that graphic was the protestors' response...

The Role of Globalised Fast-Food Outlets in Popular Uprisings - probably a PhD thesis being written on this as we speak.
