The finite amount is related to inflation, iirc. Another f.u. to the current centralised banking system with its infinite amount of printable money. Where the coins come from is a good question. I have vague memories of reading that they were something like Easter eggs embedded within the blockchain code. Rewards for mining. It would spit them out at semi random intervals to whoever was doing the most work(?) You'd have to look that up.

The blockchain is the really interesting part, imo. It can be used for so many different things. Electoral voting for eg.

Have all the coins been found now?

No, but getting there. They say that the price will shoot up once they are. But who tf knows. If you had a spare few hundred lying around, it might not be such a bad idea to buy a chunk of a coin, just in case.

Re: what vimothy is getting at on a quick glance. Yeah. It's all a bit of a fugazi. The initial idea was cool, though. The blockchain concept remains cool.

I would like suggest you to gain complete knowledge about cryptocurrency before trading. You need to decide which coins will be best and trading exchange and need to decide about time to invest. The main rule in crypto - is not to make impulsive decisions.

Sage as ever

It's happening. MicroStrategy decided to put $250 million of its treasury reserves into bitcoin rather than keep it in dollars.
Hyperbitcoinisation cometh.
