LISTS

Darned cockwombles.
I have to say I like Pitchfork and Fact's Top 100 lists at the end of the year. Much of it is very meh, but there are always 15-20 records that have totally passed me by through the year.

Dusted magazine is quite good for esoteric rock, krautrock, post-rock type stuff too - loads of records i'd neevr have heard of otherwise.

"I think Fact is just online. Annoyingly they took off some of those top 20 lists, or at least i can't find them....there was one on underground disco and obscure krautrock that were brilliant, but i forgot to look up all the records at the time..."
Yeah, think Fact is online only which is a shame because it was a nice format in the shape of a 45. I think Gareth Cherrystones did the krautrock didn't he?

Man, I fucking LOVE Marine Girls - Beach Party. One of those records that I can't talk to anyone I know about cause it's twee guitar pop and most people I know hate all that. I daren't bring it up for the slagging I would recieve. Every tune on it bar 2 are amazing. I don't even like any other twee stuff either. I'd like to like more but anything else I've heard hasn't been too hot.

Surprised not to see any Meat Puppets on that Cobain list. He was such a hipster wasn't he! I never feel the urge to listen to Nirvana anymore but reading interviews with him back in the day did put me on to some good stuff. Especially...

22. Colossal Youth - Young Marble Giants

which ironically totally lead me away from all that grungy radio rock stuff that Cobain peddled.
