    i think hes pretty good at pastiching literary style. the book on battaille
    swoons and flutters and gasps and gnashes its teeth and flounces and mimes all these other histrionic poses just like a real literary
    frenchman would

    maybe Ive got a skewed perspective bc I read him quite slowly, but I remember the aesthetic being pretty consistent. what changed is his philosophy went even further out there and his politics followed suit.

    you probably take more note of the ideas and i probably take more note of the literary style
