only 15 options so i missed off his first lp, pat garrett and dylan (whos gonna vote for them?)

also basement tapes cos its likely been superceded by that new boxset thing which i still havent heard yet but by all accounts is awesome

Blood on the Tracks.

The only one for me. Gorgeous, nasty. A ripped-up hate letter accidentally released.

John Wesley Harding, but 'Girl from the north country' being his best tune IMO.

The pair of ye. Always going for the drama, the romance, the big statement - at the expense of the austere, the unassuming, the deceptively simple.

always and forever. lets have someone operating at the peak of their powers not playing possom.

Kenny Buttery, Charlie McCoy, the tightest drum and bass combo in Nashville.

The anti-pepper.

Written and recorded in 6 weeks as a deliberate 'album of songs'.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I had a short lived phase at Uni (natch) where I was convinced Dylan was this next-level genius and I would feel palpable shivers going down my neck when listening to ''Simple Twist of Fate". Maybe I was right? He is good. One of the best stupid voices in music.

What is bens opinion?

well in light of the comments above, you're not gonna like it...

I've gone for john wesley harding simply because its the one i keep coming back to the most over the years, The real answer is probably highway 61/blood on the tracks/blonde on blonde, but theres something so simple and mysterious about the songs on jwh that keeps me coming back.

this is my fave dylan song, proper deep.

I've got a lot of time for the first album. Should be on the poll. I wouldn't vote for it, but it should be there..

Had a bit of a Dylan resurgence myself recently so this is a well-timed thread. I've been battering JWH, Freewheelin', Desire and BOTT.

Also been listening to a LOT of Bootleg Vol.2 and Vol.6.

i know people go over the top about dylan, and i have often found myself thinking that maybe people who don't like him are actually on to something. But nah, he is fucking great!
