forgot to include this in my ballot

lost gem (last gem?) by Omni Trio - b-side to "Nu Birth of Cool"

formulaic, yes - but when the formula is perfection, then why not

"Torn" - as in tearing, yes, but I like to imagine also torn (deep down inside) between feeling he had to say bye-bye to the smashed-Amen diva-piano template and usher in the slicked out nullity of the Nu Thing

A lot of 93 stuff is almost hard to categorise as jungle or hardcore, such as

Where does this fall on that borderline?

And this?

Still getting context from youtube comments...

Bukem came on the scene, introduced 'intelligent' D&B and changed the whole game. At the same time the really roughneck ragga jungle was exploding alongside these tunes, and causing all sorts of drama in the London venues... It went from being happy clappy pills n thrills to all eyes and teeth in dark corners of the clubs, too many crack spliffs being smoked, and people getting stabbed. Still great times though...

Hey yall. There is absolutely no way I'm going to finish a poll, especially one I'd feel good about, by Friday. Just don't have the time to sit and listen to music these days. Maaaaybe could get it done by Tuesday, I guess, over the long weekend. If that means mine won't count, no worries, but thought I'd bring it up.

Either way, it's nice to go back through all this stuff, it's been a minute. Looking forward to discovering at least a couple new tunes. In that spirit, here's a few corkers that might be on my own list that haven't (I think) been mentioned yet:

Agent Orange - Gettin' Rougher Kaos Remix
The Fat Controller - In Complete Darkness
The Rood Project - Thunder
Baraka & Master Lacquer - One In a Million
G-Force & De Oxman - Cappashot
Fine Feline - Weekend
Higher Level (aka Krome & Time) - Everybody Can Be

WOW!

I must say after the last week and a half it feels good to have my voice acknowledged in a democratic process.

Was it ever considered odd that the Prodigy didn't make jungle? You'd have thought it would be right up Liam Howlett's street.

I guess they went down a more rock influenced path.

Good choice. Couldve sworn this was 92. Theres that unreleased Fat Controller thing which is basically a mix of every anthem from 94... could be a nice sneaky pick.

shit i just realised i put the slipmatt remix of fat controller on my ballot when i meant the original, can you change it please barty?

Has anyone actually given you an actual 1-100 ranking?

Might it be more realistic to rank according to frequency?

I've just had a proper look at the ballots so far.

A specifically ranked top 100.

A speicifally ranked top 50

A vaguely ranked top 100

The extension of the deadline should give everyone else (me included) to get proper lists in

this is a classic tune and features on woebots essentail uk techno mix

but i cant get how anyone would try and shoehorn it into a best of jungle selection

I did mention this upthread but nobody came to my aid - that a lot of 93 tunes are really on the borderline between jungle and techno.

What defines jungle - breakbeats and dubby basslines?
