We had terrible trouble getting people into the road outside parliament yesterday. But got there in the end.

Got told off by huffy protestors more than the cops. By people who were clearly used to being listened to and having their orders followed.

There is some energy there from the youth but it’s drowned out by EU beret wearing jolly angry what what types.

Poll tax riots are one thing but half the country was not rabidly committed to paying poll tax as far as I can remember.

I'm not convinced that half the country does support Brexit at this point. I think that was accurate a few years ago but now I get the feeling a lot of people are wobbling and the people who still want it are just flooding the media with the idea that it's still that popular.

"There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People."

It's evident even if you live in London. How many of you lived and worked in London who moved here? Every middle class kid with a pulse moves here for a few years (then fucks off again, usually)

there's such a big turnover of people in major cities i feel like that maybe this is one of the reasons things don't explode any more. it takes roots to organize, for things to grow.

It certainly would not, not at this stage. As I say there is a 50/50 split you are being hopelessly naive. It would lead to street fighting on a crazed scale and make the miniscule chance of a tolerable compromise yet more remote. may well come to that anyway but for the time being, no. Which is why none of us are throwing molotov cocktails this afternoon.

and one other thing that i wonder. if this 50/50 split is somehow orchestrated by the ruling class. creating an eternal deadlock.

I always wonder about the don't knows at a time like this. You get them with Trump too. Surely by now you know where you stand on these things.

I'd say it depends on whether it's a don't care as in they genuinely don't care or whether it's a don't care as in they've just given up due to it being such a shitshow.

Police force admits agreement to share information about protesters with DWP - https://www.disabilitynewsservice.c...-share-information-about-protesters-with-dwp/

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has admitted that it has a written agreement to share information about disabled people and other activists who take part in protests with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Disabled activists have expressed alarm at the confirmation, which came despite previous denials by the force and DWP that any such agreement existed.

They said the existence of the agreement was a clear blow to the right to protest of disabled people who claim benefits.

Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP) said it was “extremely concerned” that its local police force was “spying on disabled protesters and passing on their details onto the DWP”.

GMCDP said the agreement was “yet another example of the punitive and unwarranted targeting of disabled people”.

Concerns about links between DWP and police forces such as GMP – and the impact on disabled people’s right to protest – first emerged last December after Disability News Service (DNS) reported that forces had been targeting disabled protesters taking part in peaceful anti-fracking protests across England.

Thing is Dominic Cummings is still in contempt of parliament isn't he? I mean does that actually have any consequences at all? Maybe he should just go to parliament and give the fucking speech and show how much he is fucking taking the piss.

If the last three years has shown us anything it's how toothless our political system is once "good sportsmanship" has gone out the window.
