Why would you? its awful, wrong in pretty much every way. Its a 'not quite' sleng teng as well...

These are guidelines rather than rules, so don't fret too much.

1) 1990-93 is about right. There may be a handful of obscurities from 89 that are also acceptable.

2) Tracks should be from the UK, with at least some kind of nod to breakbeats, ragga vox or bleeps.

For example this is 4 to the floor, but there's a faint breakbeat in the background:



3) Try to avoid tracks that are completely derivative of techno from Europe and the States.

4) I called the poll hardcore so as to not scare off non-bleep fans. Any early-90's nuum is acceptable; bleep, ragga techno and proto-hardcore are all fine.

Yeah - they were definitely trying for sleng teng, no question. Dont think they were first.

Given people's tastes on dissensus, I imagine that the UK stuff (and particularly breakbeat hardcore) is going to dominate the results anyway.

IMO - and as written already in the jungle poll thread - 1993 was feeling and sounding very "jungle-y" (starting in autumn/fall '92 already actually), while you could make a case 1991 and 1992 still sounding much more alike (in general terms) as just a few months on. But then, even in 1993 breakbeat/early jungle you had 4 to the floor a lot still.

Anyways, If I cast a ballot, I'd do one for 1991/92 and a seperate one for 93.

But yeah, those big rave tunes (predominately)from Belgium (R&S label) got played by everyone in 91.
