two recent records i like, both explore the area between improvisation and almost techno-like rhythms, both are intimate and (mostly) quiet.

the first is andrea belfi from milan who has released stuff on die schachtel and smaller labels. his latest marries photography and music, hence the book and the preview below is one piece of several which can be found here.


the second is eli keszler of nyc (i think), also in the same sort of cavernous space as the belfi though a bit less restrained. the record can be heard/bought here and below is a sample of one piece:

good call, also paul schütze etc. lost of excellent dark/ritual percussive stuff in the late 80s/early 90s.
