Hardcore/Darkcore/Jungle with the "sickest, most insane sonics"

we can become inured with familiarity to the abrupt physicality to this music, the instant of it, with its sudden jump cuts and brute crescendos. that is overwhelming by design.

Beast of Burden
Very underrated, I've always thought. Would never have considered losing/selling my copy of this. The Tango flipside is a monster too.

that whole Two On One series had some really outstanding releases

this one from Nookie under his Cloud 9 alias was a particularly choice bit of emotive atmospheric jungle, with a nice 4/4 kick running underneath. jungle techno for lovers?

always found 2 in 1 slightly disappointing, with a few exceptions (like the 2 Bad Mice track)

seemed like such a good idea - producers let off their leashes, allowed to experiment - but in fact Moving Shadow's regular releases in '94 were actually more mind-blowing, whether it was Blame + Justice "Anthemia" b/w "Essence" or "Dread Bass"

Disclaimer: yes this is one of my compositions - take it as you find it.

Claimer: I'm pretty certain this'll be the most fucked-up thing you'll hear today.

For anyone interested in new darkside stuff, Tim Reaper and Dwarde (two new skool jungle producers) have now done three volumes of their Globex Corp project, which are all pretty great:
