It isn't capitalism, it's ego. Ego gets solidified through praise - praise feels good, great, brilliant, amazing. It's a downfall of most artists, and probably most shamans and priests and whatever too. The persona has been the being since before money invaded.

the persona predates money but capitalism and the career seals it in amber.

Reynolds was telling us about this. Think he quite liked it. What notes did you make?

The process of writing non fiction is
same as how hip hop is made: you take
a bit from here, a bit from there, put them
together, recontextualised, and make
something new.

The balance/conflict between oppositions
means an elevation all around.

With dub reggae, it's about the big room
and then the small box, the movement
from one to the other.

Most bands, the first or second album
are the best, cos it's the stuff from years,
leading up to it.

If hip hop sells a certain image of
masculinity, is that then minstrelsy? Like if
you play up to that.

Kayfabe = Be Fake backwards.

Joseph Schloss, the best way to win a hip
hop battle is to bait your opponent into
losing their cool, so they can't deliver cos
they're so angry.
