There's a huge overlap in taste between me and craner, particularly with r&b, but I want to destroy Abba. Their music makes me feel agitated, distressed.

I like a lot of their obvious hits - 'Mama Mia!' is up there but 'Dancing Queen' is some sort of magical choon that for me is utterly poignant. Do others get that, or is it just joyful? I find the idea of a girl being a 'dancing queen' when she's 17 somehow tragic because of all that must come afterwards.

Prematurely aged freak that I am...

Todd Edwards, 'End This Hate'

I actually started the Dissensus Todd Edwards Addiction Recovery Group back in 2004, but I've suffered several relapses since then. I could've picked about 30 other tracks than this, mostly from the Prima Edizione, Nervous Tracks and Full On Vol 1 compilations (the essential documents). I chose 'End This Hate' because it has gorgeous hooks and a righteous message which I dedicate to version.

LOL - missed this

I was just going to say this tune is luminous, numinous, voluminous

I see Todd being a bit like William Blake. Connected directly to the angelic, with the innocence of the lamb and the libido of the lion.

It's very good. Like most of what oliver likes it has something theatrical or cinematic, staged, about it. Artifice foregrounded.

I also like that it taps into a sentimental fantasy that many of us share (perhaps it has some greater significance for peopleofcolour) re: Egypt. Balmy winds, palm trees, starry skies, exoticism, serenity.

I mean to say, when I was a wee bairn learning about Egyptians at primary school, it exerted a powerful hold on my imagination.

I'm doing rough calculation as to how long it lasted based on average song time x 100

surely the actual intercourse was 5 songs max? like blowjobs and licking don't count because craner's list is optimised for the heteronormative condition. unless yyaldrin has superhuman prowess and went for 8 hours.

Anas bin Malik said, “The Prophet (ﷺ) used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number.” I asked Anas, “Had the Prophet the strength for it?” Anas replied, “We used to say that the Prophet (ﷺ) was given the strength of thirty (men).”

It probably is the best 100 ever made. I hate some of it, the yacht facism, Abba and the italian schlock, but as a whole, an aesthetic and an argument it's hard to beat. Mine would be much less interesting. In fact it's so boring I bored myself after about 3 entries when I tried it.

What were the 3 entries?

You know what I never liked this Springsteen song but it shuck in under the wire of my stoned zombie state just now as I was walking along in a brief glow of sunlight and I almost started clicking my fingers.

Latest update: on the Tube, Maximum Style almost made me cry TWICE - the spectral beauty of the rufige strings in the central section - then the brilliance of the intro as a standalone, THEN the brilliance of the Jamaican entrance and then PARTICULARLY the brilliance of bringing in that "baby!" With the "yeah yeah"s.

Magnificent selection of choons. Choons that have been thoroughly listened to, tested for weaknesses, found wanting.

Pretty good list except you forgot Kiss which crushes almost everything on on that list (and about everything else on Earth). No one else who ever lived could have make a one chord vanp so vividly + ambiguously sensual. Its peak Prince as receptive (i.e. gazed upon) object of desire, liminal erotic figure. Also that half-top belly shirt he wears in the video tho
