Default Lefties: Who Excites or Inspires You?

It feels like liberals (at least in the US) are in this undead state. All the life, energy, youth, and new ideas have drained out of them, maybe wasted on moral outrages over transgender bathroom rights and other unsubstative clickbait "issues." Everyone freaking out over Donald Sterling's senile ramblings about "those... people" (blacks with big black dicks) a few years ago just seems sad in hindsight. AOC is already overexposed, not even 30 years old, can't even run for president for five more years (two election cycles) and by then everyone will be sick of her. So where will the fresh blood and new ideas come from? Conservatives adapted successfully by embracing analytics and viral meme culture, and Trump's puppet masters understood how to communicate in the post-authorial, post-monovocal era where everyone just wants to lose themselves in the mob and the noise. Speaking of losing, why isn't there a single peripheral candidate coming from the left for 2020? Forget anti-establishment, which is still what people want, I just mean someone outside the political sphere. Maybe an entertainer (Jon Stewart or George Clooney for VP?), or a tech entrepreneur who maybe leans a bit libertarian? They had four years to adapt and it's like they got stuck up their own asses with identity politics and didn't learn a goddamn thing.

I'll be gone soon, don't worry

LOL...you mean clickbait like this thread?! not sure what planet yr on but progressives have been the growing, energized part of the Democratic Party for the past year, more so now than ever with the blue wave of progressives elected in the midterms and Bernie freakin' sanders the top polling challenger for president!

How is this thread clickbait? It's a legitimate question. You have the primaries starting in less than a year, a Mueller report that yielded nothing worth remarking on, and liberals are still fantasizing about impeachment. What does that tell you about their excitement level for 2020?

I live in the US. If there was a blue wave, it was more like one of those lapping waves you get at a lakeshore than the tidal wave you seem to be describing. Plus this happens every midterm. And in the four months since taking back the House, what exactly have they accomplished?

This has to be a joke, right?

Bernie freakin' sanders the top polling challenger for president!
Bernie's spiel about billionaires and the 1%'ers is not only tiresome but rapidly losing relevance now that unemployment is at an all time low and economic growth shows no signs of slowing down. He needs a new angle but I suspect he's got nothing else in his arsenal.

    Just answer the damned question.

please. tell me about life in the states.

we just had a midterm where democrats took republican seats, including many in conservative districts, in historic numbers. they won 40 seats, the most since any midterm since 1974. THAT is a lapping wave at the lakeshore??? and a number of those who won are more progressive than the rest of the party. how did they all get in, and how did the dems win all those seats, if there is no energy in the party?

The UN called the United States the most unequal society in the developed world, so...

Anyways, all they need to do is win the votes in the right states this time.

Just backlash against Trump's historically low poll numbers at the time. The Stormy Daniels thing was looming, Mueller was looming, Trump's attorney Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to violation of campaign finance laws, the Cabinet became a revolving door... like a comical episode of The Apprentice where Trump calls a new Cabinet member or high ranking official into the Oval Office every two weeks or so to deliver his signature "You're Fired!" while Ivanka blows him under the Oval Office desk and Jared Kushner watches in his pajamas, eating a bowl of soup.

The backlash didn't just come from independents, either. Conservatives were angry because he didn't deliver on his most outrageous campaign promises. Where's the border wall? (After the midterm, six weeks later, Trump suddenly gets serious about it and shuts down the government). What happened to the Muslim ban? Hillary is still at large, etc.

Republicans gained seats in the Senate and increased their majority (the Senate is vastly more important than the House), and picked up more state governors, widening their lead at the state level. So the "blue wave" only applies to the House of Representatives, which if you lived in the States you would know is a herd of procrastinating diabetic cats who never get shit done. I don't know about these ultra-progressive congressmen and women, so if you could enlighten me, I'm all ears.

So.... back to the original question?

Fair enough. Have these organizations accomplished anything of note?

Crazy thing is, I'm the most anti-conservative motherfucker you will meet this side of the pond. More for their dismissal of science and philistinism than their attitudes re: gender/racial/income inequality, but still. This is cracking me up.

Well they have variously got people their unpaid wages, stopped them going to jail and almost prevented a latin american community from being destroyed. Which is a small start.

The problem in the UK is that most people on the left are being sucked into either talking about Brexit all the time or the dead end of Corbynism. I would guess the same is true in the US with Bernie and AOC...

Hey numb nuts, I was born in liberal Massachusetts and have lived in liberal New York for longer than you've probably been alive. if you didn't come off as such a dick, I'd explain why many of your points are incomplete or outright wrong, but I can't be fucking bothered.

you can be employed and live in a growing economy and still be poor and exploited. in fact, i would say this is the problem.
