I really hope he said this IRL

Despite Pharrell Williams declaring in a recent BBC interview “I can’t give this away but I’m a huge fan of Jamiroquai” it seems unlikely Jay Kay will ever be an acceptable name to drop.
Even Pharrell can't admit it without an apology - but the fact remains Pharrell loves the Quai, and Pharrell's opinion counts more than an NME journalist.

Incidentally, I'm getting a near-sexual thrill from calling them 'the Quai'.

Who are some of Jamiroquai's influences?
Members of the band have amongst others, publicly praised the following artists:

    Roy Ayers
    Brecker Brothers
    Donald Byrd
    Frederic Chopin
    Stanley Clarke
    Daft Punk
    Miles Davis
    Earth Wind and Fire
    Fatback
    Marvin Gaye
    Johnny Hammond
    Herbie Hancock
    Jimi Hendrix
    Bernard Herrmann
    The Isley Brothers
    Carole King
    Mark King
    Kurious
    Ramsey Lewis
    Charles Mingus
    Joni Mitchell
    NAS
    The O'Jays
    Pleasure
    Maurice Ravel
    Patrice Rushen
    Sly & the Family Stone
    Weather Report
    Deniece Williams
    Stevie Wonder
In other words, if Craner and I and Barty formed a band, it would be Jamiroquai.
