There's that scene in A Field in England where the black sun/"ill planet" or whatever it is appears in the field and looks a bit like this stuff.

Off topic but is 'a field in england' any good? I really liked 'down terrace' but all the others were annoying, so I never bothered with it.

Down terrace on the 2nd viewing was not as good, but I really liked it when I first saw it on late night telly by accident.

That might be because the black one was developed by a cutting edge team of experts in a uni dept using a state of the art lab over a number of years whereas pink was knocked up in five minutes by some joker in his back room.

I quite liked A Field, not sure I've seen any of his other films. I thought it captured the feel of tripping balls quite well.

Also it's pretty easy to scientifically and objectively define perfect blackness. Perfect pinkness, not so much.

A quite liked A Field in England, it's definitely a bit of a mess and very studenty though. I'd say that and Down Terrace are his best, Kill List has its moments and I wasn't into Sightseers and High-Rise.
