Corpse has just confessed to me that he hasn't stuck to any of these solemn oaths but he did "go a couple of days without weed."

I haven't drunk for two months my brain has turned into a super computer but I mustn't get too proud or the devil is sure to tempt me

The 3rd month is the most testing, but the rewards after that do indeed multiply. May God be with you

Thanks mate. Not my first time doing this. I'm an old hand. I enjoy giving things up more than I enjoy doing them.

There are aspects of this stuff, impulses, I think are good. Not toxic at all. Did you see they have a book club where perhaps they do dutifully slog through canonical texts like Proust
Possibly but more likely it's Bravo Two Zero or Soldier I SAS... both of which I've read come to think of it.

Very zietgeisty thread this of course because so many young people feel angry and betrayed by the permissive culture and still saddled with disabling guilt and self loathing despite today's moral lassiez fairer excuse spelling

And a generation are discovering or trying to find their way towards self control and the exalted will.

Which has an alarming side to it which we're all aware of but there is a truth there somewhere

Society is riddled with man traps. Sin is just another name for snare drink drugs pornography junk food the entertainment industry all of these things can become compulsive behaviours and prevent Personal Growth and it's worth finding ways to escape from those traps.

Im Always very interesting in the bodybuilding stuff I keep bringing it up cos there I think you do see a rhetoric of fascism. And typically, if you look at the inspiration memes and stuff it's about bullying and hectoring the body, a kind of drill sergeant in the head

Alright you miserable worm, give me 10

Pain is just weakness leaving the body push give me more

You can see how this movement, disgusted with decadence and self defeating behaviour, with uncontrolled impulse and addiction, could slide very easily into fascism, is in fact already doing so

And you can see how those who profit from these compulsive behaviours could be designated enemies of the people
and there's all sorts of interesting tensions here, politically speaking.

How do you square this kind of fascism with a generally pro capitalist outlook for instance?

my feeling is that the exalted will IS fascism. Is force. Is violence. Is rape.

But I share some of the same dissatisfaction with the current situation and my programme for escape would look superficially similar.

This is one of the key battlefields today and it's something Mark Fisher wrote about a lot and struggled with a lot. This is the Spinoza-through-Burroughs stuff. The cold windy bodiless rock of Hassan I Sabbah.

It has to be taken seriously.
