Yeah, except that for all the ever-more convuluted mathematical operations that are applied, the results still only show that the US is split roughly 50-50 Republican-Democrat, which we already knew. It's very pretty and satisfying in a mathematical/graphical sense, but it doesn't change anything or show anything new. Cartograms are the 'they stole the election' of 2004 - Democrats need to get over the numbers and start winning voters over.

Definitely. Though the map prior to the rooster shows how useless the 'nation geographically divided between blue and red' analysis is. But ultimately yeah, Democrats just need to fix up, look sharp.
