Berlin - whither should I go?

don't neglect jason forrest/donna summer's longtime party The Birthday Party for some ridiculosity and high spirits

one difference with Kreuzberg is that it as an older, more established history as a turkish neighborhood. Friedrichshain (although it has gotten a bit of an i think vietnamese or thai population last i was there) doesn't have that and neither does Prenzlauer berg. I think this is why although kreuzberg started out as a hip area, it hasn't gentrified as far or as quickly - racism skews investment in property (anyway that would be my experience from the US).

they are all fun in their way, though

You can get away with anything if you're seen as experimental, I suppose.

I could have seen Villalobos at Fabric on Saturday for a fiver (after 5am) but I passed out instead.

I remember some nice all-you-can-eat breakfast places on the water around there... sigh..

unbelieveable weekend, a million thanks sherburne/childrent and to anyone who came up with the info

The shed party was OK quite a laid back affair in an awesome dingy squat style bar though we slinked off to watergate for stimming and co about 3 (who were ace) bloody radioslave was wearing a MICRON tshirt, the night i used to do in manchester! cue me jabbering to him. Watergate was loads of fun in the morning, i see what you mean about it being a bit like london clubs but all the dweebs were gone quite early leaving us to hammer it all morning. And unlike london we actually we actually managed to make some new chums and hang out with them later on in the day

I can really see why people fall in love with Berghain, truly an otherworldly place. Was gutted we had to leave round 5pm ( so surreal the sun coming up and still being there when it was going down!) to go for our plane home but already planning a run back in feb.

I think with Berlin most people head straight for Love Life (with the big single 'No More Words'), but OTOH it was the next album that had 'Take My Breath Away'...

yeah Friedrichsain is a bit this way but its still a cool area, though xberg definately has more authentic feeling and more going on. it was all empty warehouses with stasi-era thin-walls and when the wall fell down half of xberg just flooded over the spree and took up shop. many squats, one around grunberger strasse i think, i met some nigerian shamans there.

go to

restrealitaet.de

this is the site for ALL the parties.... you need to log in though... you will find everything you need there in terms of club nights.. usually about 20 things listed everyday to choose from

enjoy !

I'm interested in hearing some indonesian dubstep.
Zhao, you have anything you can post?

well it's not exactly dubstep made in indonesia... or atleast i don't have any

but rather mashups i made of Gamelan (and other indonesian music) vs. Dubstep.

first 2 are pretty mellow, 3 and 4 are vocal...

4th July is also this: http://www.myspace.com/siriusraum18 in Neukolln if you're interested in some of the 'genre' formerly known as wonky (maybe). Ikonika, Fantastic Mr Fox & Rich Reason, Slugabed, + others.

You'll miss Incyde & Sigha on the 9th and Sub:stance on the 10th which is a blunder. Nothing else leaps to mind right now, though there will be loads on for sure.

Corpsey holla at me if you actually come out here.
