I'm still disappointed 1xtra don't have a dedicated Grime show yet, especially with the amount of Funky House being played on Cameo's and Target's shows these days (even though Target's is more of an "Urban" show, it is included in their Garage listings still)

Sick Boy

All about pride and egos
I think Cuts put it perfectly when he said that DJ Target's 1xtra track listing looks like someone's iTunes playlist.

I hope they give the Plastician his own show. He seems to be one of the more popular DJs in the "In New DJs We Trust" programme, since they have changed the line-up already and Plastician still remains. I like his show a lot. It's like Mary Anne Hobbes show minus all the shit you'd never play out in a club.

Plastician's show is great.

I really like how he brings a unique sound of Grime and Dubstep which caters to a certain type of audience. He's always done well internationally as a DJ as well by merging the two sounds, so Radio 1 is an excellent platform for it.

I'm trying to research what roll deep solo records have come out? (I’m not talking about Wiley or Dizzee here). They have so much talent I want to track down more of their stuff. I’m thinking mainly of the MCs here.

I can think of –

Trim n Scratch – Trim n Scratch

Trim n Roachee – Pen n Paper

Flowdan – Bun dat (it’s a 1 sided press with the vocal and instrumental. Very big. Think it might be 04, has creeper era lyrics on. I have this but never heard it referenced.)

Scratchy – Shangooli

Runaway - Target I think?

Poppadoms - Riko and Whizzbit

Can’t think of anymore. What about Riko, man is a legend at his best, should be on wax. Same for Flowdan and Trim.

he's a superb radio host too i reckon, affable and informative, personal but not overbearing. and such a sick selection

Trim - Boogeyman/The Lowdown is the first one that springs to mind. Not sure if he's released owt else on a solo tip, but that 12" is excellent. Lowdown might be my favourite beef track in all of grime - "I'm a big bad dub, you're a minidisc that's broken and finished with."

I believe Jah War is coming out on Ninja Tune in the next few weeks, so that'll be one for Flow Dan's solo repertoire.

Forgot about Boogieman - its such a posse cut that I don't think of it as a tune by Trim specifically. Lowdown is a top tune for sure. I love that line too! That Flowdan tune already got released on the MA Hobbs comp i think.

Indeed it did. Ninja Tune (or even big dada maybe?) are putting it out on 12" though - complete with the loefah remix, which plastician played last week and utterly slays.

Speaking of which, plastician's show is essential listening each and every time - here's hoping he gets his own dedicated slot at some point.

Safe - The Fourth podcast is ready to download!

Just to go over things incase you are new to this or if you have forgotten...

So I have started this grime podcast for people to download through iTunes as well as using other applications that can be found on the net (if u hate iTunes or something) and basically the sets are going to be 30+ minutes of new grime instrumentals/vocals.

To get the podcast and to subscribe to it:

1. Open up iTunes and click on the Advanced Tab at the top near File, Edit etc...
2. Click On Subscribe to Podcast
3. Paste In This Url : http://www.gcast.com/u/thegrimescene/main.xml and click Ok.

Then the podcast should start to download and you can see the progress of the download in the podcast section on the left where it says Music, Movies etc...

After its downloaded, you can listen to the set by double clicking on it there and then or putting the set on your ipod/mp3 player and listening to it then.

You can get other apps to download and listen to podcasts, just google them basically if you have some kind of vendetta against iTunes. Google applications like Juice or iPodder

Safe.

Or if u really arent on subscribing, u can access the mix by right clicking on this link and pressing save target as, in order to save it to ur pc:

its the beat for industry thats most dissapointing. its basically like a mix between sturdy trad hip hop rhythms and southern hip hop. so boring. never mind that the concept of 'warning kids about the industry' has been done a zillion times before and he sounds so simplistic. i hope the album is better. but i fear its going to be quite rubbish. come to think of it, i think he might have lost it.

I know what you mean but give him a break. It's a decent, modern sounding hiphop tune, the beat sounds great in places. His flow on it is solid and his lyrics are well put together. It isn't cutting edge but he's on a major, what's to expect?
