I am going to this and it will be fantastic: a women in reggae special to greet the Spring! The line-up is very special indeed and you will want to be there.

Who wants to meet up there? I aim to be in the Barley Mow (pub down the street) from 9.

Here's, the blurb from the Bug…

“To celebrate the joys of Spring, the ladies are hitting Bash… Massive Attack’s collaborator / Shut Up & Dance artist Nicolette joins forces with The Bug and Warrior Queen.

Drum & Bass heroine/Radio 1 xtra regular DJ Flight trades her jungle in for dancehall and Radio One’s Breezeblock pioneer Mary Anne Hobbs are providing the pressure at Bash on April 27th. And with Dubstep warrior Loefah dropping bass heavy lovers tunes for the opening set, the night promises to be large.”

‘Bash’ will be aimed directly at dancehall partyseekers fiending for the latest bashment rhythms, classic ragga, deep dubstep, heavyweight dub and reggaefied hip hop. Nerds, trainspotters and the moody boys need not apply, as residents, guests and host MCs resolutely set out to ensure the bass will put a smile upon your face.”

BASH is rapidly turning into one of the best reggae nights in London and as a complement to the pure love-fire of the DMZ nights it’s essential.

Cheers fella... it was cos the image was in CMYK not RGB, which Safari can handle, but Firefox can't apparently.

Loefah doing a lovers set! This is gonna be great!

Roll Call

OK, roll call for who's reaching.

I aim to be in the Barley Mow from nine.

I have Dave, Martin and Eden down.

Matt, do you want to brave this again? You won't have to stay out too late -- Loefah's on first playing a lovers' set.

So how was it?

Nicolette (from the SUAD records) fantastic, a voice to ferry your soul into another dimension, brain and haert-melting stuff and a real privilege to finally (and unexpectedly) catch her live, after all these years - nearly brought a tear to my eye ; sadly ruined by the presence of the utterly loathsome Ari Up, who jerked around Nicolette, desperate to grab the mic and subject us all to her cringeworthy chat (and this has nothing to do with me disliking her cos she's white, she genuinely is shit, and The Slits were fucking rubbish too). So, I didn't enjoy it as much as the last one, but no doubt other attendees will disagree.

I didn't think she was that bad... furthermore I thought you telling Kevin that "she should be shot" was somewhat excessive. :p

Top night tho. DJ Flight was amazing. Will try to get my thoughts dictated and photos uploaded when time allows! I love it, it's damn near perfect.

Briefly:

Loefah: fab sweet roots rather than UK lovers. Great stuff, shoulda been on later
Mary Ann Hobbs: good stuff, some nice moves, bit nervous
The Bug with Nicolette and Ari Up: AMAZING combo of voices and harsh riddims. Don't agree with Martin at all, thought Ari Up was absolutely great, for me better than Nicolette on balance, though Nicolette was amazing
Flight: slew dem. Ruled the place.

Overall, a really, really, really good night, with great vibes and nice people

Got back to the house at 3, in bed at 4, woken by Dan's kids at 7 :)

Back in Sheffield now and veeeeeeeeerrrrryyyyyy tired. But happy.

Pix and write up later.

GREAT turn out of Dissensus people, lovely to see you all in the Barley.

i'm kinda with martin on this, nicolette stole the show with gentle hype and loveliness, while ari kinda just stole the mic, she was also a bit patronising to the crowd (let me transalate ad all that nonsense) and a wee bit patronising to nicolette, but together they had an interesting frission going on. Still the woman looks about 25 which is crazy.

The choice of those two was great though, they are both two entirely unique women for sure, the contrast was good.

But yeah Flight was great, she didn't do anything particulary apart from play very good records in a very good order, alot of tubby which just reminded me how absolutley amazing and 3d his productions are, i reckon dubstep could go somewhere in this direction with 5.1, given the chance.

Also her last tune was breathtaking anyone know what it was?
