Certainly rings a bell. And reminds of me of a third hand story I heard about Jim Davidson. A group of ne'r do wells just outside my ken are sitting in a Surrey boozer discussing the loss (confiscation?) of their soundsystem. Jim Davidson happens to overhear them. The boozy comic and scourge of the Left makes his away to their table and tells them to return to the same pub exactly a week later, he's got a surprise for them.

This they do, to find big-hearted Jim at the wheel of a transit van into which is packed a soundsystem, surplus to the raucous funny man's requirements. They take receipt of the soundsystem, and the bibulous jester veers off into the Surrey night.

Now why would anyone make that up?

See Steve Davis through to the last 8.
Couldn't stand him years ago, but he has endeared himself over the years doing the coverage with JP.
Even more now that I see he has a room of records and sense to go with them.

I like this
Soul music has been hijacked these days. R'n'B can mean anything now; it's been completely bastardised. I listen to proper R'n'B.

Hope he goes all the way now.
