i think the advantage might be audience expection at gigs. it would stop people turning up, not hearing midrange wobble and feeling let down because 'there's no dubstep'...

I think the reason I'm always moaning about wobble as opposed to, say, Basshunter or Goa Trance is that its intimately connected with all the dubstep that I DO like. It's right in my face, and therefore I feel compelled to call it shit.

The sooner they make a new genre called Wobstep the better. The other genre will be called Chinstep.

''You like dubstep, don't you?''

''Yeah''

''Have you heard that ''Where's My Money??!?!?'' tune? That is HEAVY.''

''Uhh don't like that one''

''Oh. Well, how about ''FUCKIN ARD SLAG''? That one is SICK.''

''Hmmm don't really like that one either''

''Bumfucking Nuns?''

''Nope''

''Cancerskank?''

''Nah''

''Dodgemscrotumcarbonara?''

i've found a context i can enjoy wobble stuff in: with really aggy mcs over the top! finally it all makes sense. took this from when slackk upped it on grimeforum (props), haven't seen it on here yet so sorry if i'm re-posting...

plastician ft. tempz, rage and nomad

saying that, when plastic drops diz's 'streetfighter' at the end it just takes it to another level, the lightness of touch is also quite a relief after all the wobble.

i think plasticians got quite a diff take on it, like the midrangey wobble stuff is what grime should have become or something, i disagree though having seen him dj with nomad etc a few times, the tracks are still dispiritingly stiff and flat.
A friend of mine calls the deep technoey dubstep ' national geographic dubstep '

yeah it's slightly bonkers imho, i've said so on the blog in the past - i don't see the connection at all. but he's a safe guy and a good dj, not to mention nomad is getting better on the mic all the time. be interesting to see if plastic plays old grime or new dubstep on 1 feb at fwd>>, spyro's album launch.

'national geographic dubstep' is ruddy genius. ridiculously cumbersome genre names ftw :)

it's a garage thing

big up hessle

techno people: ask not what dubstep can do for you, but what you can do for dubstep. probably fuck all

also see: flowdan over rusko iirc, from butterz. very good

gremino: a restart.

yes.

like mixing be and see into black ops and defocused and gutter music and humber. it's a winner every time

Even though I like the plastician set, I feel like the in your face wobbles get old after awhile even with slew dem killing the beats

I like the idea of mixing that into an album or a set here and there though. Coki isn't quite as over the top as Rusko etc, but I really like Goodz over "shattered" and its great in the middle of an album with less wobbly production.

Really I like everyone over tortured, though, I think you had ruff sqwad over that beat in Dubstep Sufferahs 3, right?

resident adviser have just made us label of the month, they're a mag that specialise in house and techno - http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature-read.aspx?id=1006

rams put together a mix for it which doesnt sound techno-y, which you can download up there.

it's a funny one but i think that where house/techno influences in dubstep are concerned, peoples pre-conceptions colour what they actually hear. we seem to do well out of it but i can only think of one tune we've put out that fits that tag, deviant off pangaea's first 12. peverelist gets held up as one of the guys that instigated a crossover sometimes, but if you listen to them his tunes sound like they have as much to do with jungle as they do 4x4 music.

got to say im really liking it. while ive liked 4x4 kicks from time, the snare on the 3rd kick makes it more danceable or skankable to be more correct. it doesn't seem to have the dread of early dubstep (which is what drew me to DS), so to me is techno in feel without going to far down the reverb route of berlin techno or losing its UK garage swing. i think. :D

there's gonna be some tix on the door isn't there?

unrelated question, sorry if it's already been discussed, but anyone know when Joker - "do it!" is coming out? such an utterly hype tune.
