aren't they always? i have met a few sociopaths and they are damned good at that kind of thing.

So... it looks as if maybe this other family had hatched some kind of doomed plan to try and extract money from the Maddy(TM) fund by staging the kidnapping of their own kid. And now everyone within a few streets of the whole business has been arrested on various related and unrelated charges.
