of course she's right... i've postulated before that the more representations of sex there is in a given society, the less of it is actually going on.
representation becomes an agent of repression - an overly sexed visual culture makes people frigid and self conscious.
and the status of sex as "artificially-rare commodity"

Yeah, I noticed this by the time I was 13. The more teenagers talked about their sexual prowess, the less of it they probably had.
of course it will take a LOT more than porn to curb arguably the strongest instinct built into us. but my experience of the past 15 years compared to all those stories of the 60s i hear...

yeah fucking sucks. aids appeared the same time as i hit puberty
used to be a lot more of one before, finding it hard to be veggetarian in germany, the land of sausage eaters... haven't found a single delish salad in all the restaurants i've been to... but in general i think it's important to eat right and be healthy in order to be able to enjoy sex and (to much less degree) drugs that much more!
now is prolly good time to make the distinction between joyless compulsive fucking and... you know, the good kind. (will refrain from cliche descriptions involving words like "immersive", "oceanic", "transcendent", or "cosmic")

When I lived there, I was a vegetarian and it was so tough!! They literally didn't know what it meant, I would be sure to special order (sometimes my professors would pre-order for me on a long trip), and they'd STILL bring me something with chicken, or made with chicken stock.
I'd say--live it up while you're in the big D, experience the wares, and go back when you get home. I had a much better time when I relaxed and did that.
