I picked up his 'Introduction to the Theories of Popular Culture' for cheap in a charity shop. Is it an alright read for a theory-curious type? Is it partisan in ways that are worth bearing in mind or off the mark on particular subjects or anything like that?

I find it a handy, if a bit dry, reference when I taught Intro to PopC. Don't recall anything too partisan or off-the-mark -- it strives for a tone of balanced objectivity and explication more than polemicism or accute critique.
