Youtube has become the primary way for me to find old but new-to-me music that I would otherwise have no way of ever knowing about. Being pretty young, this kind of stuff was being made when I was just a toddler. Here's a handful I've found thanks to the tube:
Starpoint - Object Of My Desire
Loose Ends - Hangin' On A String
Shirley Murdock - No More
Cheryl Lynn - Every Time I Try To Say Goodbye (12" mix)
Loose Ends - Slow Down
Stephanie Mills - (You're Putting) A Rush
Dubby, electronic, lots in common with Chicago house, electro-funk, late disco, etc. I love anything remotely related... please add on. I'm not so much talking about the Prince-associated stuff though that's obviously big.

do you know about body fusion by starvue? i love this music, i know millions of songs....
More from the same era, but not necessarily soul.
Mass Production - Firecracker
Starflight - Dance to the beat
General Caine - Shake
And of course...
The Commodores - You Bring Me Up (great soccer vid)
I'm nuts about this stuff. Living in a not terribly hip neighbourhood in Tokyo, bizarrely enough just around the corner there's a guy running a small bar / vegetarian cafe called Ovo Lakto. He has a whole wall it, crates and crates of records (with decks), cds. I go there sometimes and I'm bugging out in heaven.
His mixing is a bit rough tho...
can't find it on youtube but cashmere 'do it any way you want' is the best michael jackson song not done by michael jackson ever...
intro sound like hanging on a string....
this got sampled, but what song was it again though? great song, just can't remember who its by....
def jam had some good r&b early on....
fonda rae, might remember this vocal from some hardcore record or somehting, i do....
actually it migt have been a garage thing come to think of it, big record still
one of my personals...
Hey hey baby how ya doin' come on in here
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waiting for you
Listen first things first let me hang up the coat
Yeah how was your day today
Did you miss me
You did? Yeah? I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today
That's right now close your mouth
'Cause you cold busted
Now just sit down here, sit down here
I'm so upset with you I don't know what to do
You know my first impulse was to run up on you
And do a Rambo
I was about to pull out the jammy and flat blast both of you
But I didn't wanna mess up this thirt-seven hundred dollar lynx coat
So instead I chilled -- That's right chilled
I called up the bank and took out every dime.
Than I cancelled all your credit cards...
I stuck you up for every piece of jewelery I ever bought you!
Don't go lookin' in that closet 'cause everything you came here with is
packed up and waiting for you in the guest room. What were you
You don't mess with the Juice!
I gave you silk suits, blue diamonds and gucci handbags.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young.
And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days . . .
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta here with that alley-cat-coat-wearing,
punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with. Cause you
That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids, don't you know
that. You without me is like corn flakes without the milk! This is my
world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut! Now get on outta
Don't touch that coat...
